On December 7, 2021, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Alan Russell Cook, Sr., was convicted of one count of bankruptcy fraud, four counts of false statements regarding a bankruptcy proceeding, two counts of falsification of records in a bankruptcy proceeding, and one count of false bankruptcy declaration. In April 2021, Cook was indicted for bankruptcy fraud. Between April 2016 and November 2017, Cook avoided paying creditors by concealing assets and filing for bankruptcy to fraudulently discharge debts.
