SBA to Celebrate Utah Veteran Business Ownership at 2nd Annual UNITE Conference in St. George

Salt Lake City –  In celebration of National Veterans Small Business Week, the Utah District Small Business Administration is hosting the 2nd Annual UNITE Conference in the Atwood Innovation Plaza at Utah Tech from 9 am to 2 pm on Wednesday, November 2nd.  Mayor Randall from St. George City  provided her support for National Veteran Small Business Week and the veteran entrepreneurs in St. George by issuing a Mayoral Proclamation which proclaims Oct. 31st – Nov. 4th  as National Veteran Small Business Week.

The Unite conference is an opportunity for military, veterans, and their spouses to connect with other veterans, show support to those veterans who own small businesses, and to learn about business opportunities and resources.  The conference is cohosted by the Big Sky Veterans Business Outreach Center

“This event is a chance for our community to celebrate, connect with, and empower active duty service members, veterans, National Guard/Reserve members and military spouse entrepreneurs during National Veterans Small Business Week,” said Jackie Hobson, Marketing and Outreach Director for the Utah SBA District Office.  “As an Army veteran and spouse of a veteran currently owning a small business right here in St. George, I know firsthand the vital economic impact made by veteran entrepreneurs in our area.  This event provides an opportunity to celebrate that impact, while also connecting even more veterans and military spouses with the resources they need.”

The conference will be kicked off with Dixie High School’s Junior ROTC students Presenting the Colors followed by an address from the Utah Veteran and Military Affairs office. Kenneth Brenneman, Army veteran and Vice President of Goldman Sachs will provide a keynote titled, Sweat, Blood, and Service: Lessons in Leadership and Perseverance from the Ranch to Wall Street. Kenneth has founded and sold several businesses and also serves as a consultant leader to several companies.  In addition to the keynote, attendees will hear from multiple veteran business owners from Southern Utah. A variety of business resources as well as veteran support services will have booths at the conference.

Active duty service members, veterans, Guard/Reserve members, and military spouses in Utah are invited to register and learn more at:  https://bit.ly/unite_conference
