Attention Veterans!  If You Are Are Certified or Interested In Becoming Certified, You Won’t Want to Miss This!

Wednesday, November 8th | 2:00-3:00pm ET

As a veteran-owned small business, did you know that the Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE) from the Veterans Administration to the Small Business Administration (SBA) beginning January 1, 2023?  The Veteran Small Business Certification Program will be the SBA’s primary vehicle for handling certification for veteran-owned small businesses (VOSBs) and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSBs)—important classifications that enable those businesses to qualify for sole-source and set-aside federal contracting awards.

Updates in the new program will include:

  • Firms verified by the VA Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE) as of January 1, 2023 will be automatically granted certification by SBA for the remainder of the firm’s eligibility period.
  • All firms verified by VA as of the January 1, 2023 transfer date will receive a one-year extension to their eligibility giving veterans an extra year to get recertified under the new SBA system.
  • The extension will allow SBA to process applications from new entrants into the program and grow the base of certified firms.

New applicants certified by SBA after January 1, 2023, will receive the standard three-year certification period.  Along with the recertification extension, the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act grants a one-year grace period for self-certified SDVOSBs until January 1, 2024.

SBA Associate Administrator Larry Stubblefield, head of the SBA’s Office of Veteran Business Development, will join us to discuss the upcoming migration, how the process is moving, and how this change will impact veteran-owned small businesses seeking certification.

National Entrepreneurship Month

Celebrate National Entrepreneurship Month
With Us All November Long!

This National Entrepreneurship Month, we take the time to celebrate the contributions of America’s small business owners while recognizing there is still much success to come.

America’s entrepreneurs not only contribute greatly to their local communities, but they are also drivers of the national economy as a whole. That, in and of itself, is worth celebrating. November is National Entrepreneurship Month in the U.S. It is a time to applaud the achievements of the small business community. But it is also an opportunity to position current and future small business owners for success in the years ahead. That is the mission of the SBA. We offer a variety of resources that entrepreneurs can leverage to help them start and grow their businesses.
