Introduction to the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Program

The Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Federal Government Contracting Certification Program helps SDVOSB’s compete in the federal marketplace. Under the SDVOSB program, the federal government limits competition for certain contracts to SDVOSB-certified businesses in order to help provide a level playing field for SDVOSB’s. The federal government’s goal is to award at least three percent of all federal contracting dollars spent stateside to SDVOSB certified firms each year. This webinar, presented jointly by SBA’s West Virginia, Delaware and Maine Offices, details the SDVOSB Program’s eligibility criteria, benefits and application process.

The 8(a) Business Development Program helps small, disadvantaged businesses compete in the marketplace. The 8(a) program offers contractual assistance, financial assistance and management and technical assistance to firms that are owned and controlled at least 51% by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.  Under the 8(a) program, the federal government limits competition for certain contracts to 8(a) certified firms in order to help provide a level playing field for small disadvantaged owned businesses. The federal government’s goal is to award at least twelve percent of all federal contracting dollars spent stateside to small disadvantaged businesses – including 8(a) certified firms – each year.

The upcoming webinar will cover 8(a) certification eligibility and benefits, as well as how to apply for 8(a) certification.
